Artist's Comments

Although I don't say it much online, I'm quite into sculptures. In particular, metal ones, or as my (school) art teachers call them, "armatures".

I did this piece for one of my Art units in school. The topic I had chosen for that unit was "emotion", so I decided to explore ways of expressing emotion through pose. I titled this one "Despair".

The photo was done in a cheap studio at school, which is probably why the photograph looks good (or I think it does, anyway).

So what do YOU think of it? :)

----------
Materials used:
- Fairly thick metal wire for the 'skeleton'.
- Thick aluminium foil used to wrap around certain areas to give it volume.

Approx. time taken: like half an hour.

Socks are rocked off as of.... NOW.

A little hard to make out the head and hands at first glance, but the legs give it away in a unique "understand the pose before you see it" style. Excellent.

Very nice! The studio may be cheap, but the picture turned out very well. I like the slight reflection on the floor, it gives it a little more depth. :+fav:

Very nicely done, and it really does give off the feeling of "despair". The reflections on the foil give it more depth, I like it.

great posing! Me likey. Also the attenuation of the neck works really well.
Your reccomendation was well founded; I'm totally into what you do here. I tried an armature once and it wasnt bad, I liked doing it more than I liked the outcome....you get Great calouses!!
good work,

Thank you, and glad you liked my piece. :)

..and about the calluses, haha.. yea... you do indeed. If my pliers' handles aren't plain soft rubber, I tend to wrap them with some masking tape to make it a bit nicer for my skin, otherwise I'll get some pretty bad calluses. Oh, and also, when I work a lot with wire, I get something that's almost like calluses; I call it "guitarrist fingers" (the skin of your fingerprints goes hard, just like a guitarrist); also your finger muscles get stronger.

ps: another plus side to it, if i may add, is that when you make out with your girlfriend, your "strong hands" are very "handy". ;)
