Hey guys, yes I'm still ALIVE!! :D

I had a very busy year of studies, and very little time to make sculptures. Please excuse me.

I have posted my latest piece, which I made as a gift for my girlfriend on Valentine's Day.

I hope you'll like it. :)

I'm alive!!

1 min read
Hey guys,

I'm sorry for not being around dA at all lately. I'm really busy doing my rigging reel here at the VFS.

What is a rigger, you may ask? It's the techie guy who creates the animation controls on static characters so that they can be moved by an animator and thus brought to life, if done right.

Anyway, that's what I'm doing right now.

Hope everyone's having a good time! ;)

Where have I been? I've been going to the VFS (Vancouver Film School, www.vfs.com) since October, and I've little or no time whatsoever to keep up with dA, unfortunately.

I think it's pretty clear I don't usually post in my dA journal.. I've set up a blog where I'll be posting updates at least once a week on how my demo reel is doing so far... you can find it here:

wip.alanimation.com/

I'm doing a rigging reel.

For those who are not aware of CG 3D terminology, that's the word for doing character setups. A modeler gives a rigger a static model and the rigger makes it capable of moving and emoting in a fashion comfortable to the animator, who gets it next, and hopefully makes it come to life through good acting.

You're more than welcome to drop by and leave some constructive feedback on my work.
It's always appreciated. :)

I hope you're all having a good time, and my apologies for not keeping up with the comments and all that.

Hey everyone!! I have decided to accept commissions from now on. :)

The way it's gonna work for now is if you are serious about requesting a commissioned piece, leave me a note.

Prices will be affordable and may vary depending on factors such as the size of it, complexity of the matter at hand, or if the materials involved are rare or easy to get. (You'll have to pay for shipping and packaging too.) You can just ask me and I can try to give you an estimate (without the shipping costs, as I only find those out for sure once the sculpture is completed).

My specialty is metal sculptures, but I can use random materials if necessary or desired. (Check my gallery to get a feel for my style.) I can work from reference images, although they aren't a must. However, if you say... order a dragon sculpture, and I make one to the style of the LOTR black raiders' dragon things, and that wasn't what you wanted, it's your own fault for not giving me a pic so I know what style of dragon you were thinking of. The more specific you can be, the better.

And if you want, you can specify what specific materials you would like me to use. You could say something like "make me a dragon out wire and foil", or you could say something else such as "I want a duck made purely out of paperclips". (I did that once.) Or you can ask me what I'd recommend to use for it, and we can discuss it. (You could even ask me to like include a small speaker with an audio jack so the sculpture can appear to speak/sing/playback audio. I can't guarantee anything like that, but if you request me to, I will investigate and see what I can do.)

I will take care of commissioned works one at a time, so if I'm working on one and you make a request, then you will have to wait for your turn. It'll be first come, first served.

Once you make an order I will keep you updated with pictures, and once a sculpture is completed, I will send you several pictures to confirm it is what you desired and it looks cool/good. If that is so, then I'll go find out how much shipping will cost (as it is based on weight and size), and get back to you.

I will make sure to package it well so that it survives the trip. Once it's ready to be mailed, you will have to pay me (preferably paypal, but I can accept other payment methods), and I will mail it that very day. Oh, and you get to choose if you want to go for the more expensive (speedier) delivery of your package, or for the more economic (slower) delivery.

Having said all this, I feel confident in my ability at creating metal sculptures to be able to create virtually any creature/character, humanoid or alien. (I am also capable of creating small props such as a gun, cape, or chair for the character to sit on.) If you aren't sure if something's too complex for me to make, just ask me, and I will let you know if I can do it.

Also, if you want a sculpture that is already in my gallery, I don't sell the originals, but if I have the materials, I can do good replicas. Just ask. There's one or two which I may not want to do a replica of, if it was made as a personal unique gift for a friend, but otherwise I don't mind for the most part.

Drop me a note if you want anything. ;)

As I pointed out in a previous journal post, it was my birthday last 22nd of August, and amongst other things, one of the presents I got was a webcam (which I had been wanting for some time).

So, I've put up a webcam pic on my profile, and I'll change it every once and then. ;)

What do you think of the pic?

ps: this is the first time I publicly put up a pic of myself for the dA community. heh
